YOu are probly right that you just need to use a different tap on the transformer. The frequency shouldnt matter as it is probly all dc internally.

Agreed. I've now emailled and phoned/left message with Phonic - no reply to either after over a week. Sigh.
I also just noticed that there's a "100 VAC" setting... like where on earth is 100VAC????
