This kind of person is why I've stopped doing things "for potential profit", because the amount of actual lost revenue has so far greatly outweighed all of the non-existent "profit" I've (never) seen. Ask me why my rates are "high".

My biggest fear of statistics, is that they'll tell me something about myself that's... bothersome.

If you like choice and performance when it comes to your Internet access, or you just like to support the little-guy... please sneak out early for lunch on Tuesday and join myself and many others on Parliament Hill to rally for net-neutrality.

Don't know what Net Neutrality is? Think double-dipping by telcos wanting to charge extra for access to Google or Facebook... or making them load slower or after showing you ads. Notice how your VPN connection to the office got slower recently? That's thanks to Bell's new DPI from Ellacoya/Arbor. Your BitTorrenting on Rogers just not moving at full speed, even though it's a legitimate download? Enjoy their "bandwidth resource management".

And that's just the beginning. The CRTC doesn't appear to get it, so come help us make sure the message is heard.

Two samplings of people who are painfully stupid: Phishing Averted and No, this is not a Walmart job application. In both cases, scroll down to read the comments, that's where the gold is.

- We had it coming: Ottawa gets sued for cancelling the Light-Rail Project. And we deserve it too. I'm sure delaying or modifying the contract were viable alternatives.

- I've always agreed that competing with music piracy is really the only way to beat it. Trent Reznor would rather people not pay to download his music online in lieu of getting gouged $30 for a $0.05 piece of plastic. (Curiously he suggests P2P networks rather than supporting piracy-for-profit CD sellers) Then there's these fools, who think actively fighting the iPod is somehow going to result in commercial success. See ya later.

- Apparently the Feds are trying to dodge due process to get at ISPs' customer data. I'll be paying attention to this one for sure.

- It's been a bad week for power: Toronto, Saskatchewan, and Toronto again - and it's only half over!

- iPhone is coming to Europe. Not a chance for Canada - not that I'm surprised, but I'm very disappointed that Palm killed the Foleo - I could've certainly hacked used one!

- Oh well, guess I'll use the money to buy an iPoser iPod Touch instead. Delicious. Too bad the iPhone below isn't mine. (But I sure had a bunch of you )
